Moruleng Stadium - From October 7 to 11, 2024, EmpowaYouth, in partnership with Bakgatla Ba-Kgafela, hosted a transformative week of opportunities for youth and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the North West province. The event attracted over 10,000 young people, industry leaders, and esteemed speakers, inspiring creativity and facilitating valuable connections.
EmpowaYouth, a division of EmpowaWorx, collaborated with Bakgatla Ba-Kgafela to extend its reach to the Moruleng area. This event was part of EmpowaYouth's nationwide summit series, aimed at engaging youth who face barriers to education, mentorship, and employment.
The EmpowaYouth North West Week featured:
1. Ten industry-focused stages2. Over 100 esteemed speakers3. A comprehensive, content-rich program4. 2,000 young participants each day
On Day 4, young entrepreneurs had the opportunity to pitch their businesses, with support from Coca-Cola and Absa Bank. EmpowaWorx managed the pitching process and the judging.
On the closing day, Coca-Cola and Absa Bank presented prizes to the winners:
1. Coca-Cola: Ten winners received R20,000 each.2. Absa Bank: The top performers received R15,000, R10,000, and R5,000.
Post-event support - Following the event, Leitlho La Morafe visited the winners' businesses, while Coca-Cola evaluated each workplace and communicated with the winners to ensure the delivery of equipment and prizes.
The collaboration between EmpowaYouth and Bakgatla Ba-Kgafela demonstrates a strong commitment to empowering youth and SMEs. This initiative has sparked a wave of inspiration and connection, shaping the future of the North West province.
